Thanks to technological developments we can now discover, experience and enjoy the world, and everything in it, without even having to leave home. As a result of the ongoing pandemic, countries are closing their borders with intentions of decreasing the rapid spread of the coronavirus, this has resulted in a standstill in the world of tourism.
Up until now, tourist attractions and theme parks have been abandoned where many are descending towards bankruptcy. However, thanks to the evolution of 360 video and virtual reality, tourist attractions, museums, and theme parks can once again open their gates for curious visitors without affecting the spread of the coronavirus, but how does this work in practicality?
Through the usage of a so-called VR-headset, a user can get a first-hand experience of the thrills and excitement of tourist attractions from the comfort of their own home, while still remaining in quarantine. Using the VR-headset, the user is invited to a world of discovery and experience. Although users are not physically present at the attraction, users can travel the world for a fraction of the price and experience as it is actually happening in the physical world. The 4k video footage is hardly distinguishable from reality, hence the name Virtual reality. There are plenty of different types of VR-experiences, the possibilities really are truly endless. Users can, for instance, hop on a sightseeing train ride through the swiss alps or go for a scuba dive in the spectacular coral reefs in the Maldives or even have a full-on hotel experience. Why not try them all?
Have you ever wanted to take a stroll through the Vatican City and the Sistine Chapel? Did you plan to tune in to one of Andrew Lloyd Webber's beautiful musicals? Or even attend a cookery class? The truth is that you can do all of the above from the comfort of your home, spending little to no money.
The constant improvement and development of virtual reality are allowing us to experience the wonders of the world and interconnecting with experiences we maybe never were to experience otherwise.
