Spotlight: Sheya Oghenetega Maxwell

Every month, leaders are stepping up and working harder than ever to educate, grow their business, and most of all, inspire. It is because of people like them, that Crowd1 has become what it is today. This is a chance to get to know the people behind the success. ‍

How did you get to where you are now?

For me to get to where I am today took a lot of dedication, determination, sacrifices, hard/smartwork and laser focus.

What has been the biggest challenges?

When I lost my dad, it was as if my whole world stood still. Not long afterwards, we lost some of his investments and it was a big challenge for everyone in the family. We couldn’t feed ourselves and there were medical bills we couldn’t pay. It got so bad some of us in the family had to stop school. But my mom encouraged me a lot and I made up my mind that even if it's only one man that will be successful in this world, I will be that man. With this in mind,I worked very hard and studied hard through university. Of course there are no guarantees of work after school, but I was introduced to various online investment opportunities. I made profits but also suffered losses. Then along came Crowd1. I was a little sceptical but then I gave it my best shot and it paid off.

If you could coach your younger self, what would you say?
Stay focused. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t achieve anything you set your heart to. Once you can conceive it you can achieve it.

Choose a superpower, and why?

Mr Smile Masilo. His drive and energy for success.

What is the best gift you have given someone?
I bought my mom a house.

What is the best advice you have received?

Never to depend on a single source of income.
